You might try your best to fight it and to work through these changes, and yet they seem to stick around and haunt you. Though aging doesn’t have to be a negative thing there is a certain reality to it, and that is the fact that your body shape changes as time goes on. This can be due to life changes and even environmental factors, but it may also be due in large part to your lifestyle. What you cared about when you were younger may change at a certain age, and things are just so much different in every possible way. How can you defy age in this way?

It’s really at the heart of so many jokes about aging, and that is the fact that gravity isn’t on your side. This is only part of the problem but it has much to do with how things look and feel. Things aren’t in the same place and the older that you get, the harder you have to work to try and turn this around. Your hormones are constantly changing and can affect your metabolism: This is by far the biggest reason that your body and the very shape of it changes. Your hormone levels are constantly fluctuating, but this becomes even more prominent as you age. You may experience huge hikes but then consistent and very substantial drops, and that can wreak havoc on your body. Though this may be beyond your control and happening behind the scenes, you can try to work through this with hormone replacement or even healthy habits. Hormonal changes are a fact of life as you age, but being aware of these and trying to proactively combat them will help you tremendously in the long run. Know it’s going to happen, be ready for it, and then try to counteract it with healthier habits overall!

You are much more likely to lead a sedentary lifestyle as you get older: This is absolutely something within your control, but it seems to happen to more people or not. As we age we have a lot of responsibilities, much less time to ourselves, and therefore we make fitness or activity in general a low priority. Don’t let this happen! One of the very reasons that your body shape changes is that you’re not putting in the work to try and change it for the better. You therefore have to be mindful of this and ensure that you make fitness and an active lifestyle a true priority. You may not be quite as mindful of eating right or taking care of yourself: This is another thing that is within your control, for many of us just sort of give up after awhile. When you get older it has to be a concerted effort to eat right and take better care of yourself. No matter what you have going on in your life, no matter what sort of health conditions you may be fighting, proper nutrition and a healthy lifestyle can help you. If you focus on a healthy and balanced diet and practice better habits such as getting plenty of rest and managing your stress, then you may be able to work against the forces trying to change the shape of your body.

The actual body changes and it’s hard to keep up with all of this: Yes, you will find that gravity is working against you! Things aren’t where they used to be, and this is a hardship. You will also find that you get sore much more easily, your injuries are much more prominent, and you have likely developed health conditions that you never had before. That doesn’t mean that you can’t work through this, for if you are aware that age can bring all of this you can create a healthy foundation to help you fight it. Though your body shape changes may seem like a certainty, if you just focus on taking good care of yourself and really turning to natural and healthy habits to combat them, then you can be your best at any age!
